Flying Drones / Remotely Piloted Aircraft in the Maldives

Due to our unique environment with a huge portion of the nation covered in water, it is extremely challenging to set up boundaries to allow recreation drone operations. We have over 90+ floating platforms with continuous seaplane operations during daytime. Hence, currently all the drone operations are reviewed case-by-case and the following procedures must be followed.

STEP 1:

For recreational filming/photography using drone:

Approval from the hotel/resort/local island council prior to operation.

For commercial filming/photography using drone:

Approval from the National Centre for the Arts.
