How to report an aircraft accident or serious incident

Aircraft accidents or serious incidents should be notified/reported to the Accident Investigation Coordinating Committee (AICC).

Who must report an aircraft accident or serious incident

Any person involved who has knowledge of an aircraft accident or serious incident which has occurred within the territory of the Republic of Maldives must notify the AICC without a delay. 

Those persons involved includes:

  1. The crew of the aircraft
  2. The owner of the aircraft
  3. The operator of the aircraft
  4. Those involved in the maintenance, design or manufacture of the aircraft
  5. Those involved in the training of the aircraft’s crew
  6. Those involved in providing air traffic control and flight information services
  7. Those involved in providing aerodrome services to the aircraft
  8. Staff of the Aerodrome Operator
  9. Staff of the Civil Aviation Authority




What information to give the AICC

What information to give the AICC

The AICC will need to know as much of the following information as possible:

  1. The type, model, nationality and registration marks of the aircraft
  2. The names of the owner, operator and hirer (if any) of the aircraft
  3. The name of the commander of the aircraft
  4. The date and time (UTC) of the accident or serious incident
  5. The last point of departure and the next point of intended landing of the aircraft
  6. The position of the aircraft in relation to some easily defined geographical location
  7. Crew on board and the number fatally injured or seriously injured
  8. Passengers on board and the number fatally injured or seriously injured
  9. Other persons fatally injured or seriously injured as a result of the accident
  10. The nature of the accident or serious incident and the extent of damage as far as is known
