Current State of emergency in the Maldives

The President of Maldives has declared a State of Emergency in the Maldives starting from today

(5th February 2018) for the next fifteen days.


The Maldives Civil Aviation Authority wishes to inform all airlines operating into and within the

Maldives that the situation in the country remains stable. The tourism, travel and trade related

businesses remain operational and will continue to operate as usual. The State of Emergency does

not impose any restrictions on air travel to/from the Maldives or within the Maldives.


Velana International Airporc (MLE), Gan International Airport (GAN), Hanimaadhoo International

Airport (HAQ) remains open to all arriving and departing international flights.


All the domestic airports are also in service and the sea plane operations will continue to operate

as usual.


Maldives Civil Aviation Authority takes this opportunity to assure all airlines operating into and

within the Maldives that the safety and security of the aircraft, passengers and cargo will be

ensured at the highest level.
