Information regarding the various navigation approvals available


ETOPS (Extended Range Twin Operations)

Approval permits twin-engined aeroplanes to operate over a route that contains a point further than one hours flying time away from an adequate aerodrome.

CAA CAD Form 1814 - Application for Extended Operations (ETOPS) Operational Approval together with the appropriate fee should be sent to the MCAA. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges – MCAR 187.


RVSM - Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum

Approval allows aircraft to fly with a vertical separation of 1000 feet between FL290 and FL410 inclusive.

CAA Form 1802 together with the appropriate fee should be sent to the MCAA. Details of costs can be found in the CAA Scheme of Charges – MCAR 187.


LVO - Low Visibility Operations

Approval allows aircraft to operate safely from and into aerodromes when the weather conditions do not permit normal operations.
