Airworthiness Directives

Airworthiness Directive (AD) means a document issued by the CAA or the Competent Authority of the State of Design which mandates actions to be performed on an aircraft to restore an acceptable level of safety, when evidence shows that the safety level of this aircraft may otherwise be compromised.

Maldivian ADs

The CAA has issued ADs from time to time when an unsafe condition was determined by the CAA to exist in an aircraft, as a result of a deficiency in the aircraft, or an engine, propeller, part or appliance installed on that aircraft. A list of the current ADs and details of cancelled ADs are given below.

List of Current ADs

AD Number Aircraft Type Subject Notes
CAD/2005/01R1 De Havilland DHC-6 Engine Vibration Isolator Failures This revision supersedes Airworthiness Directive CAD/2005/01 which was issued on March 02, 2005.
CAD/DO-228/22 Dornier Do-228 Brake housing assembly, Part number 5007279

Cancelled ADs

It had been the practice of the CAA to issue ADs based on ADs and SBs issued by the State of Design to mandate them to Maldivian registered aircraft. This practice was made redundant with the promulgation of MCAR-M and MCAR-21 as these regulations require the incorporation of ADs issued by the State of Design.

The transition to the new regulations proved difficult to some operators as they have to comply with the foreign ADs as well as the Maldivian ADs. To alleviate this difficulty and redundancy the CAA has withdrawn those ADs issued based on foreign ADs. For historical reasons a list of all cancelled ADs will be available as a zip file. For more information refer to our notice 201-ASD-D/2011/05.
